Agribusiness in Africa webinar speakers include:

Abigail Thomson (TechnoServe) will reflect on the findings from ‘Five Years of the AAF’s Technical Assistance Facility: Enhancing the food security impact of agri-business investments in Africa’

The Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), implemented by TechnoServe, has a mandate to increase economic and physical access to food in Africa by providing technical assistance to the portfolio companies of the African Agriculture Fund (AAF). As TAF enters its fifth year, this report reflects on the progress of 42 projects implemented to date through technical assistance to ten AAF portfolio companies. The report presents case studies and thematic findings to guide investors and development partners who seek to build inclusive agri-businesses in Africa.

Jack Luft (EPVen) will discuss findings from ‘Moving the Needle: Critical Success Factors for Scaling Innovation in Asset Finance for Small and Growing Agribusinesses.’

Asset financing is quickly emerging as a promising new model to bridge the gap between the $200 billion financing demand by smallholder agribusinesses and the less than a sixth of $200 billion supply available to agribusinesses globally. Asset finance is emerging as a more reasonable pathway for SGB's to access needed growth capital and the first innovators able to finance assets for small agriculture businesses will be well placed to take advantage of a large market. The report answers three questions: What are the common challenges limiting availability of asset finance? What innovations are addressing those challenges? and what critical success factors can help to scale these innovations?

We hope that you can join us!
