From Seed to Impact: Building the Foundations for a High-Impact Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

Posted By Administration, Friday, September 11, 2015

If we want to harness the full potential of social entrepreneurship, we need to address the fragmented social entrepreneurship ecosystem. As it stands, activities in the ecosystem remain disconnected, it's tough to identify best practices, and the focus often falls on "rock stars" who are already operating successful businesses at scale, meaning that potentially world-changing ideas are flying under the radar and may lack the appropriate support to grow into their full potential.

The Global Social Entrepreneurship Network (GSEN) was launched in June 2013 at the Social Impact Investment summit. It gathers organizations supporting social entrepreneurs in 50 countries, to improve the reach, quality, and sustainability of support for early-stage social entrepreneurs.

This report dives into what kind of impact GSEN members are creating, where support is most needed for social entrepreneurs, how GSEN members are meeting those needs, and how to do more with the resources available.

The report is available through Isuu or as PDF for download.
