South African Early Childhood Review 2019

This publication analyses and comments on over 50 current data indicators spread across five categories: nutrition, health, support for caregivers, social services and early stimulation. The authors draw links between service provision across the five categories as several government departments are responsible but don't always work in tandem for the holistic development of a child. Suggestions are made in the publications on how service delivery can be better integrated across departments using the public health system as a base, due to its frequent contact with the primary caregiver-child pair during the first 1000 days of life.
