Innovation Scouts: A Discovery and Investment Network for Social Businesses

Root Change launched Innovation Scouts in Tanzania. The week-long launch included training for new Tanzanian Scouts, an Opportunity Screening Workshop (OSW) with sixteen local GBOs, and a large BDS marketplace event that brought together dozens of GBOs with local Tanzanian BDS providers to negotiate the exchange of services. Over 100 individuals participated in the launch week. The event culminated with the graduation of 13 Innovation Scouts.
This report summarizes these launch activities, and includes the results from our first two GBO screening workshops. The report also presents findings on the Tanzanian BDS marketplace. The market analysis includes a value chain map with nodes (the organizations or individuals) and linkages (flows of collaboration, resources, etc.) across nine value chain (VC) stages.
