ANDE's South Africa chapter released this Impact Stories Booklet in November 2018. The booklet highlights the importance of impact measurement and management (IMM) in small and growing business support, drawing on stories from members of ANDE South Africa's Metrics Learning Lab. It highlights their measurement approaches, impact successes and their learnings in impact measurement. The booklet also shares conversations that have been taking place at the Metrics Learning Lab to encourage further dialogue in the sector and foster a greater commitment to IMM amongst SGB support organizations. The Enterprise Development Report

This report  frames the landscape of current Enterprise Development strategies in an effort to understand how these strategies are decided and implemented. Sixty Enterprise Development practitioners from the Top 100 companies on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, representing some of South Africa’s largest ED programs, contributed their time and insights to this study. They shared details about all aspects of their companies’ ED strategies and offered rich, thoughtful commentary on their perceptions of Enterprise Development as a tool. Strengthening the Ecosystem for Edupreneurs in South Africa: Findings from a Roundtable Discussion

In March 2015, the ANDE South Africa chapter brought together just over 30 participants involved in the education entrepreneurship ecosystem including public and private funders, capacity development providers, academics and edupreneurs for a full-day roundtable discussion in Johannesburg to flesh out challenges and opportunities faced by edupreneurs in South Africa and to come up with collaborative actions to strengthen the ecosystem. The discussion, which covered five topics from Access to Finance to Infrastructure and Enabling Technologies, focused on direct instruction models (predominantly Low Fee Private Schools) and EdTech entrepreneurs. Findings and Ideas for Action from the discussion are summarized here.

Taking the Pulse of Social Enterprise Landscape in Developing and Emerging Economies - A new study by Zeppelin University and Siemens Stiftung

For the first time, data that evaluates the ability of social enterprises to meet the basic needs of poor populations is available in a study by Zeppelin University and Siemens Stiftung. 

The study focuses on Colombia, Mexico, Kenya, and South Africa. It examines the dynamics in the public, private, and third sectors, as well as to what extent these influence social enterprise activities. The study includes concrete recommendations on how to increase the contribution of social enterprises to poverty alleviation.

Catalyst for Growth Initiative in South Africa

In February 2012, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation launched the SME Catalyst for Growth (C4G) programme in South Africa to support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)in collaboration with three core partners: Dalberg Global Development Advisors (Dalberg), Aurik and Raizcorp. Only one year into the C4G initiative, businesses in the programme have experienced dramatic growth in revenue and number of employees This report provides a one year update of J.P.
