Understanding Social Enterprise Programme

"How to Make Money and Do Good"

The ANDE South Africa Chapter is proud to partner with the Social Enterprise Academy to offer ANDE members and interested non-members an insightful 2-day intensive training on "Understanding Social Enterprise". The programme will introduce you to the values and purpose of social enterprise, organisational structures for social enterprise, revenue models and how to manage an economic mission with a social purpose.

On this programme you will take part in a lively and engaging learning journey. Delve into the stories of real life social enterprises and debate with other learners about the nature of ethical business.

Stepping forward as a participant on this programme singles you out as someone motivated to make a difference, whether as a social entrepreneur or other role in the social economy.

This comprehensive learning programme is designed to respond to you and your fellow learners. It will create a safe environment for you to not only learn new skills and knowledge, but to grow as people capable of meeting the challenge of starting or supporting social enterprise in all its forms.

Having space and time to reflect on your experience, challenges and potential is a precious thing. By taking the time out from your busy lives, we hope you will find valuable insight and practical ideas for action in return.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme, you will have:

  • Developed your understanding of the value and purpose of social enterprise
  • Explored the relationship between social enterprise, NPOs and traditional business
  • Discussed real examples from social enterprises around the world and visit a local, successful social enterprise to learn from their experiences
  • Gained an overview of the legal structures available
