Mercy Corps’ Youth Impact Labs and the ANDE team cordially invite you to a forum on the gig economy in Kenya. Join us as we discuss the current state of gig work in Kenya, examine the growth drivers and interrogate key issues on the future of gig work in the country.

Kenya has witnessed a rapid growth of online work platforms over the last few years that are transforming how the country’s workforce accesses job opportunities. Today, platforms are opening new markets, building trust between clients and gig workers, and providing workers with a broader range of job opportunities. However, gig work continues to elicit excitement and controversy in equal measure.

During this event, Mercy Corps’ Youth Impact Labs will launch a new report “Towards a digital workforce: Understanding the building blocks of Kenya’s gig economy” which sizes the gig economy and interrogates the key drivers of the future of digital work in Kenya. The event shall cover the key findings and insights from the study and will feature two panel sessions and a fireside chat with industry leaders to discuss the future of gig work in Kenya. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to network with ~100 other industry members during a cocktail session after the event.

About Youth Impact Labs: Catalyzed by funding from Google.org, Mercy Corps’ YIL identifies and tests creative, technology-enabled solutions to tackle global youth unemployment, accelerating job creation to enable every young person to access opportunities for dignified, purposeful work. Youth Impact Labs operates in two strategic regional hubs, serving East Africa and the Middle East. In Kenya, YIL focuses on digital marketplaces and platforms that offer services to micro and small enterprises; agricultural supply chain management; and digital work.

We hope that you can join us!
