Each chapter’s gender equality action lab will ideate and prototype solutions to systemic gender inequities in the SGB sector. They convene regularly and will conclude with a funding challenge to scale promising solutions.
In 2019, the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) announced the ANDE Gender Equality Initiative (AGEI), a partnership which aims to support women as leaders, employees, and consumers in the SGB sector. AGEI provides a platform for ANDE members and the wider SGB sector to elevate SGBs as contributors to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5: “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.”
This Gender Equality Action Lab will regularly convene regional specialists over 9-12 months to identify barriers to success, improve existing solutions, and ideate new solutions to gender equity and equality challenges in the SGB sector. The goal is to promote experimentation around solutions to systems-level challenges obstructing progress for ANDE members in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5.
ANDE staff have engaged a small group of core dedicated members and experts to offer insight and input into the Action Labs program design, inform the problem statement, support participant recruitment and lead member participation in relevant Global Action Lab themes and publication activities.
