Position Type: Fixed Term Position.

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a Region Communications Coordinator covering the Brazilian, Central America and Mexico (CAM) and Andean Chapter. The candidate will be based in any of our chapters in Brazil, Colombia or Mexico. Remuneration will be based on location of hire.

Position Description

The Regional Communications Coordinator is a Chapter position that covers communications of the 3 chapters and that will be led by the 3-chapter heads.

The purpose of the role is to implement the communication strategy and to provide ideas to enrich the messages and information sent to the sector, therefore the Regional Communications Coordinator would be expected to understand and share ANDE’s purpose and as well as the specific goals of the chapters.

Day to day work involves the following tasks: membership communication, building the narrative and chapters standpoint around our key programming areas, database updates, preparations of event presentations. This role will provide exposure to a wide variety of experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries in Latin America as well as through network opportunities globally. This role can be based in any of the LATAM chapters cities, (Bogota, Mexico, San Pablo)

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Build, along with Chapter head the narrative and communication pieces about ANDE, its services and ANDE’s standpoint about our specific areas of interest.
  • Lead and support on the communications strategy and all communication tasks of the Chapter (newsletter, website, invites, etc.)
  • Focus on customer success in order to increase number of members and enhance the exchange of information among members.
  • Build and implement data analysis mechanisms to track the effectiveness of our channels of communication.
  • Handle each chapter newsletter and the specific channels of communication, web page.
  • Build the ideal tools to share ANDE’s knowledge.
  • The work routine involves a mix of in-office hours, work from home and external events. Flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed
  • Lead social media strategies

The ideal candidate is proactive in taking on work from other staff when needed and improving processes where efficiencies are found. This person is a true team player and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the sector.

  • Has 2-5 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Has outstanding communication and writing skills
  • Fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese
  • Is resourceful, proactive and excited to learn and take on new challenges
  • Has the flexibility to be both highly self-directed and collaborative
  • Is organized, goal-oriented and excels at handling multiple priorities at once

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within the Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global membership network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty.

Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises over 280 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries. Members of ANDE include both for profit and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions, foundations, and corporations from around the world. With a U.S. team as well as eight offices across Asia, Africa and Latin America, the ANDE team works hard to support members globally and locally, while building strong ecosystems for entrepreneurial growth. ANDE develops unique initiatives to address systemic challenges and seize opportunities that can only be approached through collective action.

Position is only open to local applicants from the region. Applicants must have all necessary permissions to work in one of the Latin American Chapters: Brazil, Colombia or Mexico

This position is being recruited through the Aspen Institute. Candidates living outside the US (where the Aspen Institute is based) will be hired by a local partner who will serve as the employer of record.
