The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), a program within The Aspen Institute, is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets, is looking for a Membership and Events Senior Coordinator who will sit at our Central America and Mexico Chapter office in Mexico City, but will report directly to our headquarters in Washington, D.C. 

Job Responsibilities

Day to day work involves a wide variety of tasks from membership communication and database updates to topic area research and event preparation. Each day will be different, but this role will provide exposure to a wide variety of skills experience and topic areas throughout the small and growing business space in developing countries. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Act as main point of contact for all members headquartered in Latin America and the west coast of the U.S.
  • Build relationships between members and facilitate connections throughout the network
  • Provide proactive and responsive support services to members and regional chapter staff.
  • Manage administrative tasks
  • Provide agenda curation and logistical support on events including the ANDE Annual Conference and Investment Manager Training.
  • The work routine involves a mix of in-office hours, work from home, and external events. Flexible hours and remote work to enable communications with our international staff and members in other time zones is often needed.


The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Has a bachelor’s degree and 2 years minimum of experience in relevant positions
  • Has extensive experience with membership or relationship management
  • Has experience with event management, including agenda curation and logistics
  • Has excellent/high level verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Has strong editing, database management, and problem-solving skills
  • Is dedicated, thoughtful, and able to remain calm under pressure
  • Is highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excels at managing multiple priorities at once
  • Is a team player and is excited about engaging with many cultures and learning about the small and growing business sector
  • Is able to travel 5—10% of the time within the region and internationally
  • Is fluent in both English and Spanish. Proficiency in Portuguese is a plus, but not required. Experience studying or working in the U.S. highly preferred.
  • The position is based in Mexico City. All applicants must have current authorization to work in Mexico and speak/write both in Spanish and English with ease.

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a program within The Aspen Institute. ANDE is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty.

Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises almost 300 members that collectively operate in more than 150 countries. Members of ANDE include both for and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions, foundations, and corporations from around the world. Based in Washington, D.C. with eight offices in emerging markets, the ANDE team works hard to support members globally and locally while building strong ecosystems for entrepreneurial growth. ANDE develops unique initiatives to address systemic challenges and seize opportunities that can only be approached through collective action.
