World Vision International is a humanitarian and development organisation whose supporters are helping children to live life to the fullest. World Vision is an independent private Christian organisation and is not formally affiliated with any government, denomination, foundation or corporation, though it maintains positive working relationships with all of these. World Vision Australia established the Social Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SEED) Unit in 2011 to research, develop, prototype, test and scale innovative economic development models that assist people who are poor to increase their incomes and assets. In 2020, it was renamed as the Economic Empowerment (EE) team. The EE team develops and supports scalable economic development approaches and inclusive business models targeting poverty reduction, by empowering households to increase their income, assets and financial stability. The team’s integrated approach spans the following: agricultural value chains and inclusive market systems development (iMSD); financial inclusion for the un- and under-banked; small and medium business/entrepreneur financing and capacity building; and women's economic empowerment (WEE).
