2018 ANDE West Africa Regional Conference

July 24-25, 2018

Lagos, Nigeria

In 2018, 86 participants from 45 organizations and 11 countries gathered at the ANDE West Africa Regional Conference to network, collaborate, and discuss regional ecosystem issues. The two-day conference which was held on July 24th and 25th 2018, was sponsored by the Impact Programme of the UK Department for International Development (DFID)

Opening Plenary Session: Looking Back on the West African Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Projecting Forward

Peter Bamkole (Enterprise Development Centre) and Tenemba Anna Samake (MBC Africa) discussed the observed changes in the West African entrepreneurial ecosystem. Both panelists noted that there have been positive developments within the last three years. They also identified challenges that have limited the growth of the ecosystem and gave recommendations on how actors can manage these challenges.

The Keynote session was an interview with Entrepreneurs- Olabode Adetoyi & Olagoke Balogun who had proven success in their business fields and had been funded by ANDE members.

Olabode Adetoyi is a Harvard University trained entrepreneur and motivational speaker born into a Royal family of Ile-Titun, Oke Afin Street in Otun-Ekiti, Ekiti state. He has studied extensively in the fields of Agriculture & Business and worked in the farming/livestock industry as Farm Supervisor, Farm Manager and Sales Manager of nutritional products. He is the MD/CEO of Hi-Nutrients International Ltd, an industry leader in premixes manufacturing, sales and marketing to Livestock and Food industries in Nigeria.

Olagoke Balogun is the Chief Executive officer of So Fresh, Nigeria’s premium brand in the healthy food space offering consumers fresh, nutrient rich and beyond delicious healthy meals every day. He is a graduate of Biochemistry from University of Ilorin with over 13 years varied work experiences across different industries; food & beverage, marketing and oil & gas. He holds a degree in Entrepreneurial management from EDC, Pan Atlantic University, and was a WIP participant with OXFAM. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Stanford SEED.

The 2018 Conference featured 12 Breakout sessions led and moderated by ANDE members and other leading practitioners who discussed several issues of key interest to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.



The Conference also featured a GALI-Oxfam Dinner/Report Launch where the knowledge brief Accelerating Youth-Led Enterprises in Nigeria was officially launched. See pictures from the Dinner below:
